Hope that funding boost for roads will repair damage done by big freeze

Its hoped that the local roads allocation for Clare County Council will faciltate for sections of road in South East Clare badly damaged by the big freeze.

Many routes across the county have been left in a state of disrepair following icy conditions however its claimed the Quinnpool road – between Meelick and  Parteen has seen significant damage.

The local authority’s national roads allocation was announced last week and monies for local and rural roads is due out in the coming weeks

South East Clare Councillor Cathal Crowe is hopeful of substantail funding to cover certain stretches which he  fears have become a major hazard for motorists.
