Parking restrictions as main contractors move in for Ennis General redevelopment

Construction work proper on the new 10 million euro ward block at Ennis General  is now underway as the main contractors move on site this week.

However the HSE is warning both patients and visitors that parking at the county hospital will be severely restricted over the coming weeks due to heavy construction activity.

Preliminary construction at Ennis General began last November with work on the new 50 bed ward block set  be completed by the end of the the year.

The facilities will also be enhanced by the construction of a new endoscopy unit- and the county hospital has become just one of fifteen nationwide chosen for the new HSE colonoscopy screening programme.

The main contractors for the redevelopment moved on site this week and the Health Service Executive is warning that car parking facility at Ennis General will be severely reduced for patients and visitors due to the heavy construction work.

In a statement to Clare FM a spokesperson says There will be a significant reduction in spaces at the rear of the hospital and no vehicular access to Out Patients until the end of September

They added that  a temporary exit has been opened opposite the Swimming Pool but for safety reasons a left turn only applies.

Hospital management have apologised for any inconvenience and asked for public co-operation during construction .
