As party leaders embark on the last full day of campaigning ahead of polling on Friday one of the last opinion polls before the election indicates that Fine Gael will just fall short of an overall majority.

The new Milward Brown Lansdowne Poll in today’s Independent shows the party is on track with Labour to form the next government with up to 115 seats, however Fianna fail is heading for a complete meltown.

Last night Enda Kenny, Eamon Gilmore and Micheál Martin clashed on banks, the economy, job creation and the health service in the final TV debate of the campaign.

Both the Fine Gael and Labour leaders appeared to round on Fianna Fail leader Michéal  Martin in a joint effort to highlight his failings in Government.
