A 39 year old man has been arrested in connection with an alleged assault on a female member of An Garda Siochana in Ennis on Saturday night.
The assault occured while the Garda was trying to break up an altercation outside a bar at newbridge Road in the town at around 8 pm.
The Garda in question received a head injury in the incident and while she did not require treatment in hospital, she has bee nforced to take time off work.
Gardai say there were a number of witnesses to the assault and have appealed to those people to come forward.
