Calls For Infrastructure Investment To Tackle Ennis Jobs Crisis

It’s claimed unemployment figures of around 6,000 people in Ennis won’t be tackled properly without adequate investment in new waste water infrastructure in the town.

Members of Ennis Town Council are calling on the new coalition government to deliver funding for the the full Ennis main Drainage scheme, first mooted in 1995, but still not delivered due to lack of full approval and funding.

Last night’s meeting of Ennis Town Council heard news of an upgrade of the Clonroadmore Waste Water Treatment Plant, but councillors called for investment in Clareabbey and throughout the town to facilitate new commercial development.

Mayor of Ennis Tommy Brennan is hoping the new government will provide the means to allow new industrial development and badly needed new jobs
