The Government is being urged to appoint a senior official to oversee the Cliffs of Moher’s bid to become one of the new seven wonders of nature.

It comes as a new survey by Failte Ireland released over the weekend show the world famous North Clare Site remains one of the most popular attractions in Ireland last year- polling 4th – with Bunratty Castle also in the top 10

The Cliffs is also one of 28 sites short-listed worldwide in the running for the seven wonders honour -and if selected, it’s hoped this could serve as a significant tourism boost for the county and the country

Speaking in the Seanad, North Clare Senator Martin Conway says other governments are investing heavily in the competition, and so should we.
