The majority of people across Clare feel the prayer at the start of  Clare County Council meetings and Dáil sittings should be abolished.

In the wake of the shocking findings of the Cloyne report in clerical child sex abuse, there were calls in the Dáil for and end to the practice of saying a prayer at the start of Oireachtas sittings.

In an online poll on the clare-dot-fm website, 52 percent of those surveyed believe the christian prayer should be abolished while 43 percent feel that it should remain in place .

A further 5 percent of those who took part in the survey weren’t sure if any action should be taken to remove the practice
