It’s feared Dev’s Dodge could be in trouble if Ennis encounters further flooding this year.
While Clare County Council has decided the iconic presidential car of Eamon deValera can’t be moved from the county library, the man who restored the 1947 Dodge Fluid Drive has expressed concern that the damage it suffered during flooding in 2009 could happen again.
Councillor PJ Ryan accepted the council’s view that the 2 tonne car can’t be moved to Aras Chonate an Chlair due to concerns over the cost and potential damage it could cause to the building, but said he hopes the historic vehicle can be preserved.
Councillor Christy Curtin, who originally suggested the restoration of Dev’s Dodge, was disappointed with the council’s view.
