Clare TD’s welcome private management staff for Dooradoyle

Mid West government representatives believe staff at Dooradoyle will welcome plans to hire in private workers to run the region’s main hospital.

The Health Minister has announced that both Limerick and University Hospital Galway will come under outside consultancy management with plans at an advanced stage.

They were chosen because of the ongoing problems with overcrowding in their A&E departments however some union officials fear the move amounts to the privatisation of local health services and fly in the face of the Croke Park Agreement.

However Clare Labour TD Michael McNamara feels that the measures are necessary and will get staff backing
