The Chairman of the National Roads Authority has expressed confidence that the M18 motorway will be complete between Ennis and Galway in the coming years.

Though the Ennis by-pass has been continued to Crusheen and Gort, the next phase of the dual carriageway to Claregalway and Tuam is now on hold due to the lack of funding from private investors.

The government has explained that the route will be a public private partnership, and with a lack of investment due to the economic crisis, no date for construction is in sight.

But NRA Chairman Peter Malone has told Clare FM that he’s still hopeful it will happen in the near future.
