All second-level schools in Clare are to get access to high-speed broadband by the end of the year.

Communications Minister Pat Rabbitte has announced that the super-fast access will be made available to all post-primary schools in three stages by 2014.

However, Clare schools are top of the line and all of those which need to have their connections upgraded will see this work carried out by the end of the year.

Minister Rabbitte says a trial of 78 schools, including St. Flannan’s in Ennis, has already shown that  use of broadband has been shown to have improved both teaching and learning.
