Rape Crisis Midwest Hails Ennis Revenge Porn Ruling As “Significant”

Rape Crisis Midwest has hailed as significant, a ruling at an Ennis court that saw a two-year safety order granted in a so-called revenge porn case.

The court yesterday heard details of how the woman was in fear of her safety because of a man who had been constantly ringing and texting her, as well as threatening to publish intimate pictures and videos.

While the Cabinet has approved measures to make revenge porn a criminal offence, the proposed legislation has yet to become law.

However, Director of Rape Crisis Midwest Miriam Duffy has been telling Clare FM’s James Mulhall that this is still a landmark ruling and has also issued a warning to people who are thinking of sending intimate photos to someone else:
