The scotching sunshine may have dissipated but thousands of people are still expected to flock to Clare’s waterways today as the high temperatures continue.

Yesterday thousands of sun starved beach goers descended on the county’s coastal spots  as temperatures soared to 26 degrees -marking a significant change to the wet and windy weather experienced over the summer months.

12 of the county’s beaches will have lifeguards on duty  today including , Spanish Point, Lahinch, Miltown Malbay, Kilkee, Mountshannon and Ballycuggeran in Killaloe.

Clare’s Water Safety Officer Liam Griffin is asking people not to take chances on unmanned water ways
