The death has been announced of one of Clare’s longest serving priests.

Fr. Charles Navin, retired Parish Priest of Tubber and Boston, passed away on Saturday following a short illness.

The 93-year-old was a native of Clarecastle, and began serving in the Diocese of Killaloe in 1934.

He served in the Clare communities of Killanena/Flagmount, Whitegate, Scariff and Sixmilebridge before being appointed parish priest of Tubber and Boston in 1973, a role he would hold until his retirement in 1995.
