Further court appearances over Ennis Feuding

Five people are due in court today in relation to violent incidents in Ennis at the weekend which lead to three people being treated in hospital.

Three people who were remanded in custody yesterday are due back before Judge Patrick Durcan today, while two women arrested after Sunday evening’s ramming incident are also facing formal charges in court.

In what was described as "a deteriorating septic relationship between two warring tribes" – details of a feud between members of the McDonagh and Doherty families from Ennis were outlined before Kilrush District Court yesterday.

Gardaí  said there was a public outcry in Ennis since the events of Sunday evening at the Maid of Eireann Roundabout, when it’s alleged that 45 year old Bernard McDonagh of Ashline, Ennis rammed a number of vehicles creating a substantial risk of death or serious harm. He’s also facing three charges of criminal damage and the assault of John Doherty.

A 16-year old who cannot be named for legal reasons is charged with possession of a hatchet with intent to cause injury to John Doherty, Martin Doherty and Jimmy Doherty.

While 37 year old Christopher McDonagh of Childers Rd Ennis is charged with possession of an iron bar with intent to cause injury to the same three members of the Doherty family
 
All three are due before Ennis District Court later this morning – along with two women who were charged with public order offences following Sunday evening’s incident.
