Gardaí investigating a car crash in Co. Galway yesterday – which claimed the lives of two young sisters – are examining whether the driver of the car may have suffered a seizure in the moments before the collision.
2 year old Katie Gilmore and her 12-week old sister Grace were with their father when all three were struck by a car on the N17 in Dunmore, Tuam.
The children were taken to University College Hospital Galway – where they were pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
While their father and the driver of the vehicle were brought to hospital for treatment to injuries that are not thought to be life threatening.
Tuam-based Labour TD Colm Keaveney says the prayers of the entire community are with the family.
