Ireland’s analogue TV signal is no more.
The switch was finally flicked at RTE headquarters this morning, as the digital age takes hold across Europe.
It marks the end of a long public awareness campaign of the need to have a ‘Saorview-approved’ TV, ‘Saorview’ set top box, or other digital service, to continue watching television.
Minister for Communications Pat Rabbitte marked the occasion with a televised speech this morning, in which he outlined some of the benefits of going digital:
