It’s reported up to 80 garda stations could be facing closure under the Garda Commissioner’s policing plan.

The Irish Independent claims also that in many places where stations are boarded up gardaí  will open occasional clinics in the likes of parish halls instead.

The move is part of a new policing model, discussed by senior officers at a two day conference earlier this week.

Earlier this week- Clare’s Chief Superintendent John Kerin warned that he expected several stations across the county to be shut-down and while its not yet known what areas will be affected, fears for small rural stations have been raised again.
