Lack Of Business Supports “Could Set Clare’s Coastal Communities Back 10 Years”

It’s claimed the economy of coastal Clare communities could be set back by 10 years unless urgent action is taken to protect small family-run tourism businesses.

The tourism and hospitality sector has been decimated by the COVID-19 pandemic, with hotels, restaurants and bars all closed down for the foreseeable future.

A report from IBEC has highlighted the need for solutions for businesses, stating that significant cashflow and liquidity supports need to be put in place immediately, to secure the futures of as many businesses as possible.

Kilkee Fianna Fáil Councillor Cillian Murphy, who is also a tourism consultant, says his sector has been disproportionately hit and with it being so important to West and North Clare, immediate steps are needed.
