The Social Protection Minister insists that current participants on community enterprise schemes in Kilrush and Ballyea will not be affected by new guidline changes.

Speaking in the Dáil this week  Minister Joan Burton that changes in the criteria for entrants to CE schemes apply to new entrants only, and that the number of overall places will be maintained.

It had been feared that 17 participants on the program in Kilrush alone would be lost by January, but Minister Burton insists only 8 people will now exit the scheme there, 6 less than if the changes had applied to all participants.  She’s also vowed for efforts to be made to fill the vacancies.

The Minister’s confident the changes will be beneficial to the wider public.
