Two Clare schools are to benefit from the latest round of investments by the Department of Education.

The Department has given the gren light to the provision of a mainstream classroom for Scariff Central National School, as well as a mainstream classroom, resource room and toilet facilities for St. Aidan’s National School in Shannon.

Local representatives say the funding is particularly appropriate given that the population of both areas has grown ‘considerably’ in recent years.

Shannon Fine Gael Senator Tony Mulcahy says the announcement is good news for the schools concerned.

The announcement brings to 18 the total number of Clare schools to benefit from government funding this year, but  Senator  Mulcahy accepts there are more in need of investment.
