Clare’s drinking water has received the thumbs up from the Environmental Protection Agency.

A new report from the EPA shows that microbiological compliance in the county’s public water system was 100 percent for the second successive year in 2011.

Chemical compliance also increased from just over 99 percent in 2010 to 100 percent last year.

A number of boil notices and water restrictions were in place during the year –  one affected around 80 people in the Ennis area while a boil notice was in place in Ballyvaughan – which was running from previous years.

One new notice was issued in the Whitegate area but by the end of 2011 there were no boil notice in place across the county.
