The last of Aer Lingus’s transatlantic fleet to undergo maintenance at Shannon Airport will leave the hanger today as the company prepares to move operations to Dublin.

70 staff based in the Mid West Airport have yet to be balloted on the issue but its reported that they will vote in favour of the deal which includes a 15 thousand euro signing on bonus, educational grants and an extra six months salary.

If accepted by staff here in Shannon it will see the numbers cut from around 70 to just 13 with just a skeleton of workers remaining to provide basic line maintenance at Clare’s International Airport.

While its understood that up to 25 will divide their week between Shannon and Dublin for a period of two years and after this will have to decide whether to be integrated into the Dublin operations or take redundancy
