Gardaí are appealing for information from the public following the discovery of a pipe bomb in Tulla.

The viable device was found during a planned search of a private house on the town’s main street yesterday evening.

It followed the arrest of two men, aged 17 and 22, in the Ballyblood area by Gardaí from Scarriff on suspicion of drugs offences.

The scene in Tulla was sealed off and the Army Bomb Disposal Unit made the viable explosive device safe – which was found in a upstairs room -just before midnight.
