Britain’s NSPCC says Jimmy Savile is one of the most prolific sex offenders it has dealt with in its 129-year history.

A report by the charity and police says the former TV star was an opportunistic individual who used celebrity status to coerce and control.

His victims are now thought to number 214 – the youngest was an eight-year-old boy.

The earliest recorded incident took place in Manchester in 1955 and The last happened in 2009.

He carried out the abuse in hospitals, mental care establishments and even a hospice.

Allegations against him include 14 offences relating to schools, partly when children had written to him as part of Jim’ll Fix It.
