Businesses and volunteer groups in Ennis have been urged to ‘adopt a road’ in order to secure the overall Tidy Towns title for the town.

Having just missed out on the honour at last year’s Tidy Towns awards, Ennis Town Council is now hoping the program will see companies and groups allocated a stretch of road in their area, and then clean it at regular intervals.

The Council would provide the necessary equipment, and arrange for rubbish to be collected, while in return for providing staff, groups or companies would also be given a sign on the stretch of road advertising their involvement.

Anyone wishing to apply is asked to contact the Council’s Environment Section – Ennis Town Clerk Leonard Cleary is hopeful the program will bring national acclaim to Clare’s County Town.
