A leading economist estimates that Clare homeowners will fare slightly better than most when paying their property taxes later this year.

Ronan Lyons of Daft.ie has published what he admits is a ‘rough guide’ for valuing Irish property, but his model sees rural Clare homeowners pay less than their counterparts in 9 other counties, as well as the vast majority of urban areas.

It’s estimated value for the typical 3-bedroom detatched home in the county is 136,000 euro.

The Revenue Commissioners are to send letters to homeowners in March advising them of the estimated value of their house and the amount of property tax that’s due, with these figures used when people don’t self-assess.
