Government gives green light for new Doolin Coastguard Station

Long awaited plans for the development of  a new Coastguard Station at Doolin has finally been given government approval.

Two million euro has been secured for the upgrade of the North Clare unit which is among the busiest in the country.

The  new facilities will include a garage area for the storage of boats, cliff rescue, personal equipment and transport as well as changing facilities and an operations room – the project will be put to tender in the coming days, and it’s hoped the new unit will be completed by the end of the year.
