The inquest into the death of Savita Halappanavar opened and adjourned in Galway earlier.
The 31-year-old, who died on October 28th last, was 17 weeks pregnant and miscarrying when she attended Galway University hospital.
The inquest heard that there are still 8 outstanding statements due from hospital staff, 6 of which will be furnished shortly.
However the other 2 are proving problematic- the inquest was told they have been certified as not being able to provide statements to the inquiry.
The inquest which has been adjourned until April 8th, is expected to last at least a week.
Outside the Galway courthouse, Savita’s widower Praveen said the hearing had been difficult but he drew strength from his late wife:
