Environment Minister Phil Hogan is being urged to consider the adverse effects drawing up new boundary lines would have on Clare rural communities if they proceed as planned.

Today is the deadline for local authorities to make submissions on the format of the proposed changes which would see county councillor numbers here, reduced to 28- comprising of either 4 seven seater areas or 2 nine and 1 ten seater electoral areas.

However Clare representatives agreed that they couldn’t make recommendations in regards to where the new boundary lines should be drawn up but instead point out the negative impact it could have on communities.
