The Environment Minister has been asked to carry out a risk assesment of a new government plan for Ireland’s fire services, as Clare’s local representatives say they have serious concerns.

The Irish Fire & Emergency Services Association says it’s concerned about the policy, which it says will put communities at risk by reducing the number of fire fighters.

Clare County Council is now calling for Minister Phil Hogan to review the plan, while a sub-committee of Council staff, Councillors and retained firemen is to review the document and it’s implications for the county.
