Shannon Businesses are calling for a greater focus on re-inventing the Free Zone Industrial Estates to ensure a sound financial footing for the airport.
The Shannon Chamber President says the establishment of a business development team, alongside those marketing the airport could work to fill the vacant sites and premises and in the Freezone generating capital for the airports financial plans.
Kevin Thompstone – a former CEO of Shannon Development- also warned against an over emphasis on developing an aviation business cluster at Shannon, calling for investment in other areas.
But he said the newly independent airport management team are focused and energetic, and working well so far.
