Ennis Councillor admits switch to Fianna fail

Ennis Councillor Brian Meaney has admitted his political career could be over if he’s  not selected to run in next year’s local elections for Fianna Fail.

Councillor Meaney has told Clare FM he’s awaiting a decision on his application join Fianna Fail, having left the Green Party, and does not wish to be an indpendent politician.

The Ennis West Councillor said he fell out with the Green Party leadership, criticising it’s urban focus, and said Fianna Fail is the party most likely to allow him pursue his green policies effectively into the future.

Admitting some people who have previously voted him may see his change of party as a betrayal, Councillor Meaney said his core prinicples haven’t changed
