It’s hoped funding for piers and harbours in North and West Clare will be of benefit to the local tourist industry.

The government has approved funds of 90,000 euro for the works, including 20,000 euro for the upgrade of Carrigaholt Pier, as well as repairs to piers and sea walls at Cappagh, Kilbaha and Liscannor.

A third of the funds will go towards necessary repairs of the pier wall at Ballyvaughan, and Ennistymon Senator Martin Conway says the funding will help to enhance our coastal areas and attarct more visitors to North and West Clare
