Shannon Airport has joined in the effort to address the fodder crisis hitting Clare farmers.

Around half of the landbank surrounding Clare’s International Airport is set to be made available to the IFA so it can be bailed as emergency feed for farmers across the county who are in urgent need of fodder for their animals.

Cutting of around 300 acres is set to get underway this afternoon and its estimated the land will provide up to a thousand bales which will then be distributed through local Co-ops and the Clare branch of the IFA  at a cost of 12.50 each.

Managment at Shannon Airport has also provided a donation towards the cost of baling.
