A Pakistani schoolgirl will receive the Tipperary International Peace award today.

Malala Yousafzai was shot in the head by the Taliban last year for choosing to continue her education and encouraging other girls to as well.

Surgeons removed a bullet from her head and she was flown to the UK for treatment where she has remained.

She continues to campaign for every child’s right to education and today she will join an illustrious line up of recipients of the award including Nelson Mandela.

Mike Mansfield from Plan Ireland says she has become an inspiration to millions.
