Tributes are being paid to long serving Clare County Councillor, PJ Burke who passed away yesterday.
Known as "Pa-Joe", the former Mullagh Councillor was an Independent member of the council for 45 years over various terms between 1941 and 1999, but was also a Sinn Fein Representative in the 1960’s.
Pa-Joe Bourke was also a founding member of the Ennis General Hospital Development Committee and remained active in the group right up until 2009, when he lead protests against the closure of full time A and E services in Clare.
