Clare Samaritans are launching a free phone number for those in need of emotional support today.
The banner county is hosting a trial of the 116-123 number before it’s rolled out across the country following the decsion by the European Commission to reserve a common telephone number for emotional support helplines in all EU member states.
Samaritans was assigned the number in Ireland as it is the only organisation in the country that meets all of the European Commission’s minimum standards.
