The plight of Quilty residents forced from their homes following recent storms and flooding has been raised in the Seanad.

Fine Gael’s Martin Conway told the upper house of his disappointment that his own government failed to issue emergency funds to protect severely flooded homes in the Tromera area of Quilty, after considering Clare County Council’s 23.7 million euro storm damage bill this week.

The Ennistymon Senator says emergency protection is needed before further damage is done.
