The Mid West Maternity Hospital's first baby of 2015 is Luke McInerney.
Luke arrived into the world at 165 minutes past midnight to first time mum Fiona Ryan from Thomondgate.
Weighing a healthy 7lbs 11-0zs Luke and Fiona are both said to be doing well.
Luke was the third child to be born in Ireland this morning after Kian Anthony who arrived at the Rotunda Hospital in Dublin at four seconds past midnight, and Ellie Dormer who was born at the National Maternity Hospital in Holles Street also in Dublin.
