A world champion bodyboarder is recovering in hospital after he suffered internal injuries in an incident off the Clare coast.
Australian Ben Player became ill while watching friends surfing near Doonbeg – it's believed he had sufffered an injury earlier in the day at Spanish Point.
Mr. Player was taken to hospital by the Shannon Coast Guard helicopter and reports say he suffered a ruptured spleen, but he is expected to make a full recovery.
