The Clare senior hurlers and footballers both escaped from their respective national League fixtures today with narrow victories with the hurlers leaving Casement park in belfast after a 13 point to 1-9 win over Antrim while  Michael Mc Dermott’s men beat Carlow thanks to a Michael O shea point in the final minute in Cusack Park to end the game on a 1-13 to 15 point scoreline.

Ger O Loughlin made six changes to his side which lined out last weekend against Wexford and Clare held by a point at half time 1-5 to 9 points.

A Philip Brennan save 6 minutes from time kept Clare in the match after Fergal Lynch had been sent off  before Colin Ryan stroked over the winner to keep Clare in pole postion for qualifying for promotion from division two

Elsehwere and David Tubridy produced an exhibition of point scoring in Cusack park to help Clare to the tightest win over Carlow in Cusack park.

Clare led at half time by 1-8 to 9 points,Tubridy getting all of Clare’s first half scores.

Graham Kelly was sent off in the seond period and Carlow had 2 players sent off before O Shea pointed to keep Clare  on top of divison 4 with just three games to go in the campaign.

There were wins today for Scariff Ogunnoloe,Clooney and Kilmaley in the Senior league while in the Junior league Killanena Kilkishen and Kilnamona earned victories.
