Calls In Clare For Independent Review Into State’s Handling Of Mother And Baby Homes

A West Clare man who was adopted at birth is calling for an independent review into the State’s handling of mother and baby homes.

It’s after a new report into illegal adoptions in Ireland recommended the establishment of a formal inquiry after it found the State was aware of the practice for decades.

This coming Sunday is Mother’s Day, which Anthony Morrissey, who’s from Cree, says makes him of the birth mother he never met on that day every year.

He says any inquiry into the State’s handling of the homes must be independent.
