Man Utd close gap on Man City with 3-1 win over Tottenham

It was a big day of action on the pitch in the Barclay’s Permier League.

Second-placed Man United sustained pressure on Man City at the top of the table with a 3-1 win over Tottenham at White Hart Lane.

Wayne Rooney scored from an Ashley Young corner at the end of the first half to give the champions the lead, with Young grabbing a brace himself with two fantastic finishes in the 60th and 68th minute respectively.

Jermaine Defoe scored  a late consolation goal for Spurs in the 87th minute.

Earlier on, Fulham beat Wolves by 5goals to Nil at Craven Cottage with Pavel Probrebnyak scoring a hat-trick.

An injury time goal for Shola Ameobi meant that the North-East derby between Newcastle and Sunderland finished 1-All.
