Three of the four men handed suspensions arising out of a fracas at the Clare Minor Hurling Final have accepted their punishments. However, Kilmaley manager Niall Romer has requested a hearing into his 8 week ban.

Following the controversial row at October’s Clare Minor Hurling Final, bans were handed to Kilmaley manager Niall Romer as well as Clarecastle’s Tommy Howard, Anthony Daly and Stephen Sheedy.

The deadline to respond to the decision was last night, and a Bord na nÓg Iomaint spokesperson has told Clare FM that the Magpies trio have accepted these suspensions, which have now come into affect.

Daly’s four week ban means he misses no competitive games for the Dublin hurlers, but new Kerry manager Tommy Howard’s 8 week suspension will see him out of action for the Kingdom’s opening game in the Waterford Crystal Cup, as well as potential Quarter and Semi-finals.

The other man censured following the game, Kilmaley manager Niall Romer, was also handed an eight week ban and has requested a hearing from Bord na nÓg Iomaint.

The board will meet in the coming days to decide their next step in the process.
