County board warned over team expenses

The Clare county board are set to show a profit of 27k euro for the last year,depsite an increase in team expenses of 20%

The Clare county board has been warned that the rising cost of payinmg for county teams is unsustainable after costs increased by 20% in 2012.

The warning came from auditor Anthony Fitzpatrick who prepared the figures for next Tuesday’s conventuion.

The county board paid out 671k euro in team expenses, an increase of 100k euro on the previous figures for 2011.

Gate receipts also showed a dramatic decrease but income was significantly boosed by the success of the county side in this year’s national hurling league and additional televison money.

The board raised 96k euro from fundraising  and have total assets of 5.5 million by the end of  October.
