Armstrong finally admits widespread doping

Lance Armstrong has finally confessed to using performance enhancing drugs after years of denial.

He’s told Oprah Winfrey it helped him win all seven of his Tour de France titles.

Armstrong said all the "fault and blame" lied with him, and he admitted to being a bully but denied ordering other members of his team to dope.

The disgraced cyclist’s told Oprah he "didn’t think it was possible" to achieve what he did without taking drugs.

Lance Armstrong also conceded his admission is probably "too late" for most people.

Cycling journalist Matt Keenan says his performance was hard to swallow.

While the 41 year old says  "fault and blame" rests with him, and he admitted to being a bully but has denied that he paid the UCI to cover up a positive drugs text at the Tour of Suisse in 2001.

Meanwhile

World cycling’s governing body, the UCI, has called Lance Armstrong’s decision to finally admit to doping "an important step forward".

Its president, Pat McQuaid, says his confession will start to "repair the damage that has been caused to cycling" and "restore confidence in the sport".
