The Clare Ladies Footballers suffered an early setback in their bid to regain division two status in the National Football League following defeat to Wexford in Cooraclare this afternoon.
A first half haul of 1-3 from Fidelma Marrinan in addition to a Chloe Moloney penalty on the stroke of half time saw Clare leading by the minimum at the interval.
However the banner would fail to register a score in the second period as further goals for Wexford from the boots of Aisling Murphy and Sarah Harding consolidated the win for the Slaneysiders on a full time score of Wexford 3-09 to Clare’s 2-03.
Wayne Freeman’s charges will hope to return to winning ways next weekend when they welcome Kildare to Cooraclare for the third round of the National League on Sunday, February 5th.
