Clare and Waterford will have do it all over again after a 2-8 a piece draw in Cusack Park this evening.

Clare made much the brighter start, and led by 1-1 to 0-0 after just 6 minutes, the goal coming from Enda Coughlan. Two JJ Hutchinson points got Waterford off the mark but Clare responded well with two from Shane McGrath and a free from Martin O'Leary. On 30 minutes, Clare led by 1-4 to 0-2 but Waterford refused to lie down. A Paul Whyte goal put just two between them, before David Tubridy made the half time score Clare 1-5 Waterford 1-2.

Clare were quickest off the mark again in the second half and opened up a 5 point gap with scores from Jamie Malone and Gary Brennan. Waterford then hit their purple patch, and 1-3 without reply saw them lead 2-5 to 1-7 midway through the half. David Tubridy pounced for a goal and when Gary Brennan landed his second, Clare were three points ahead with as many minutes to play. Waterford brought it back to a one point game as injury time loomed, and they got their replay when Paul Whyte split the posts to leave the final score Clare 2-8 Waterford 2-8.

Clare must now travel to Dungarvan on Saturday evening for the replay.
