The first show of the new season saw Morning Focus returning to its three-hour, jam-packed format, featuring a special interview on the benefits of returning to learning.
The show opened with a discussion of whether it’s realistic to expect the State to respond to and to compensate flood victims. Tony Lowes of Friends of the Irish Environment told Gavin that such events will become so frequent, due to climate change, that he believes that will no longer be possible in the near future.
The latest Irish Business Against Litter (IBAL) results are out today (Mon. Sept. 4). They found Ennis to be one of the cleanest towns in Ireland. Gavin was joined on the line by Conor Horgan of IBAL to discuss the findings.
The Early Childcare Scheme has been extended this month, however, some creches haven’t signed up for it. While Minister Katherine Zappone has warned owners not to increase their charges, many say they will have to until the sector is better funded. Gavin spoke to Teresa Heaney, CEO of Early Childhood Ireland.
With tensions continuing to escalate on the Korean Peninsula, Gavin was joined on the line by Sam Higgins from Bunratty who has been living in Seoul, South Korea for the past 12 years. He’s married there and has two children and he told Gavin what it’s like to live in the shadow of North Korea.
